The consequences of climate change and species extinction: how the financial sector and supervisors can jointly intervene

Samstag, 08.11.2025
von 12:00 Uhr bis 13:30 Uhr

Global warming and the loss of biodiversity are threatening our livelihoods worldwide – not to mention the stability of the economy and financial system. But how exactly do these risks affect banks and the financial sector? And what role does supervision play in strengthening the system’s resilience?

In our interactive workshop, you’ll take a deep dive into the world of sustainable finance. Together with our Bundesbank experts Lorena Fricke, Julia Körner and Safiye Bayazit, you’ll analyse the risks banks face as a result of climate change, while considering the supervisory perspective. How can banks and supervisory authorities work together to address the challenges of a sustainable future?

As part of a team, you’ll work on a practical case study, identifying key risks, developing appropriate management strategies and discussing how the financial sector can work together with supervisors to support the transition to a more sustainable economy.

We look forward to hearing your ideas and discussing the role that central banks and supervisory authorities can play in this process. Join the debate and help us shape the future of the financial sector!

The workshop will be held in English.
